ABOUT
I have been obsessed with the NES from the day I received one on Christmas day in 1987. I had a subscription to Nintendo Power and sent in the Player's Poll sweepstakes card each month. Then in my worst gaming moment of all time in 1991, I traded in my beloved NES and carts for a Sega Genesis at Funcoland. I had to have Sonic the Hedgehog and EA's NHL Hockey. I bought in on Sega's marketing scheme that the Genesis was for hardcore gamers and the NES for children. Though the Genesis had some sweet game titles in its day, it was nothing compared to the impressive library of the NES. Not until I got a Wii and started downloading NES games on Virtual Console like crazy did I get back into retro gaming. Soon after I picked up an NES and a bundle of games cheap on eBay. I've been hooked ever since on the greatness of retro gaming. Join me as I relive the best video game console of all time--the Nintendo Entertainment System! Don't try to argue that one, it is a scientific fact. If you need proof it had its own damn cereal!

This blog is my formal apology to Nintendo for my abandonment to the Sega Genesis. I was wrong. I will not fail you again.

love the page. i have a great history with nintendo as well. i received an 8bit nes the same time you did. my favorite NES game of all time is Final Fantasy.
ReplyDeletein 1980 when i was 13 my mom said that if i got all A s on my report card i could get a subscription to Nintendo Power, I did and my first issue was Batman with the joker on the cover. as part of the subscription i received 2 cool nintendo power strategy guides the first was for ninja gaiden 2 and the 2nd was for that's right you guessed it final fantasy. I could not beat the game without that strategy guide.
The game has a special place in my heart because it was the first game I bought with my own money it was $40 or $50 and I played that game for 6 months straight and finally beat it with the aid of the strategy guide.
my favorite remake of the game is on the Sony PSP.
My favorite game of all time is Final Fantasy IV. I have it on SNES (as Final fantasy 2) super famicom, GBA, Nintendo DS and I'm going to be buying a Sony Vita with my Christmas money so I can buy the Complete Collection.
Awesome site

Thanks for stopping by, David. It's always awesome to hear from other retro gamers and I'm impressed with the Final Fantasy IV collection. I recently found the rest of my Nintendo Power and Strategy Guide collection at my parents. Hopefully now I will finally beat Ninja Gaiden, though I doubt it. I hate to admit this but I have not played Final Fantasy--I own it but am saving it for a rainy day. I want to be able to play it in long uninterrupted sessions. My favorite and first Final Fantasy I finished was X on the PS2. I'm still in awe of that game.
DeleteTake care.
